Boxing today is one of the lucrative sports in our generation. It is a multi dollar industry. However I believe the fight between David and Goliath if it was in our generation though would have made headline news, few people would have put money on David to win. All the odds would have gone against David. Because it would have being difficult for someone to believe David bragging about winning the fight. This is a risk very few people will take in life. That is betting on the underdog to win any medals in life. But remember betting on the underdog have huge returns if they win. That is why for instance you get a massive payout if a lower rank league beats a premiership team in the English Premier League. But fear always cause us to bet in favour of team Goliath in which we definitely know the payout is a meagre sum of money. This shows we don’t want to lose our investment. But in life, taking risk is the key to earning a high return on any investment. However taking risk on the underdog is what we don’t want experience in life. We always don’t bet in favour of the underdog because we believe they don’t have enough resources to achieve that huge task of overcoming the Goliath’s of their lives.
This scenario of David and Goliath is replicated in our lives as human beings. We have not started our dream in life because we feel the resources available to us are not enough. This have led to the creation of a mindset that stipulates the fact that there is no way we can outwit the Goliath’s of our lives. Therefore we have accepted the status quo of letting the Goliath of our life to reign supreme.
The fact is we need to learn from the strategy of David. The first step is to learn not to use the exact resources of the obstacle we want to outwit. David did not wear the similar attire of Goliath that was given to him because he wasn’t comfortable wearing it. This shows that David in his own right is a unique personality. This substantiates the fact that you need to believe in yourself before you can achieve your dreams. Remember that, the fact that you don’t have enough resources like David does not mean you cannot be successful.
The other point is that David perfected his skills over and over again in terms of how to use the sling. This made him an expert in using the Sling. What is your dream in life. To achieve your dreams, you need to acquire the skills needed to achieve that dream. Acquiring the skill is not enough but perfecting it is the key to outwitting your competitors.
Therefore remember to take risks whether betting on the underdog or pursuing your dream. You might not have enough resources as David experienced, but he perfected his skills, had self belief, confidence, had a strategy and did not bow down to the arrogance and threatening nature of Goliath.
Conclusively, learn to start your dream from humble beginnings, take risks and remember it is always possible if only you believe.
